Description Pra! ctices clinical social work at an advanced level, independent of regular clinical supervision. Responsible for a full range of psychological, social and discharge planning services for patient and families in assigned service areas. Services include: direct care; collaboration and coordination with other health care providers; formal and informal teaching of psychosocial perspectives; development of community support networks and development of education and prevention programs. Assumes some regular responsibility for such areas of advanced practice as supervision, formal teaching, administration, research, or writing for publication. Complies with all federal, state and local regulations and laws governing the performance of this position within the department. Adheres to all Infirmary policies and procedures. Each social worker holds a Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work and is licensed in Massachusetts as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker! (LICSW). Requirements Masters degree in social work from an a! ccredited school of social work which included training in human growth and development appropriate to all age groups. Licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and
may also have certification by the Academy of Certified Social Worker (ACSW) or certification as a Diplomat in Clinical Social Work.
Two to three years of post Masters clinical social work experience, with at
least one year in a medical setting. Demonstrated clinical competence to
function without regular supervision and to assume some teaching
responsibilities.
