Senior Manager, External Reporting

This position reports to the Director, Technical Accounting and External Reporting and is primarily responsible for all ! aspects of External Reporting, including the accurate and timely reporting of the company's financial statements on Form 10-Q and 10-K with the SEC, both in EDGAR and XBRL, as well as ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial information included in earnings releases and related investor materials. This role will oversee the Manager, External Reporting and will have the responsibility to ensure adequate levels of disclosure and prepare/oversee analyses to provide appropriate recommendations to management with regards to areas of judgment. In addition, the position will be responsible for ensuring completeness of disclosure by obtaining an understanding of the business activities and risks and will draft and coordinate responses to SEC comment letters, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation, compilation, and filing of various SEC documents, assuring compliance with all financial disclosure and XBRL requirements, accuracy through quality control procedures, manage review with external auditors and internal constituents, and managing the relationship with the external printer.
Build relationships with functional groups to ensure their input is incorporated into SEC filings and that all necessary disclosures about business activities/environment are properly reflected.
Lead, evaluate and develop the Manager, External Reporting and other staff, as applicable, and manage team deliverables.
Ensure effective and timely communication to constituents on reporting and disclosure developments, staying current on FASB and/or SEC reporting and disclosure requireme! nts and determining their application to the company's business.
Lead Disclosure Committee meetings and coordinate efforts for responses to SEC comment letters, as needed.
Ensure effective coordination with Corporate Communication, Investor Relations, and Legal departments with regards to accurately providing financial components of quarterly earnings releases, earnings scripts, quarterly investor and non-GAAP reconciliation slide decks, and other supporting documentation for external financial communications.
Oversee accounting and recording of diluted EPS and share-based payments, including review of related valuation assumptions; oversee budgeting/forecasting of share-based payment expense. Oversee and review accounting assessment of proposed equity changes or modifications.
Review/prepare technical accounting memoranda for complex accounting transactions related to reporting/disclosure or stock-based compensation matters by evaluating! alternatives, exercising judgment and documenting proper accounting tr! eatment, conclusions and disclosure requirements, as applicable.
Lead the SOX 404 compliance coordination for Finance through all phases of planning, documentation, testing and remediation in conjunction with the company's internal audit function and external auditors. Act as an advisor to internal customers regarding SOX compliance.
Develop, modify and execute company-wide external reporting policies for a variety of issues/opportunities and present such policies to other functional groups and members of senior and executive management.
Regularly interact with senior and/or executive management on external reporting matters.
Continuously challenge resources and procedures to ensure effective and efficient reporting processes and systems to ensure scalability for growth and increased complexity, and implement improvements, as appropriate.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:
BS/BA degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
Active CPA license required
9+ years of experience in public accounting or in a financial reporting capacity at a public company
3+ years of previous experience managing staf
Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
9+ years of a mix of "Big 4" public accounting and financial reporting experience in a large multi-national, publicly-traded company with a proven record of responsibility and growth
Prior experience in pharmaceutical industry a plus
3+ years of previous experience managing staff
Competencies:
Strong technical knowledge of and experience in applying US GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB guidance and reg! ulations for publicly-traded companies
Business acumen, posses! sing demonstrated ability to make timely and well-thought-out decisions and/or recommendations to senior management, particularly on matters of significance
Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, with ability to effectively tailor communication to varying levels within the organization
Self-motivated and self-driven, possessing excellent project management skills and superior attention to detail
Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and take initiatives to build relationships despite differences in interest, offering support and help to peers without being asked, or proactively seeking input from others to solve problems
