The Assistant Director i! s responsible for assisting the Center Director in the overall management of the center which provides full-time childcare and support for parents in a NAEYC accredited center in an atmosphere of safety, nurturance and stability.
This is a 40-hour per week, exempt position reporting to the Center Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain records
- Maintain children's records with all updated DEEC and HHC required information
- Maintain voucher records
- Complete monthly voucher billing
- Update agency database (Quick Base) with accurate information
- Assure that DEEC regulations are adhered to
- Maintain health and safety standards
- Assist the program in maintaining NAEYC accreditation
- Help ensure a positive, supportive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere
- Assist in hiring and a compe! tent, highly skilled and caring staff
- Provide supervision and coaching as needed
- Help develop appropriate staff trainings
- Implement agency personnel procedures
- Maintain NAEYC curriculum standards
- Provide staff support for curriculum planning
- Inform and educate staff to the special needs of homeless children
- Greet parents and the public in a professional and supportive manner
- Provide a supportive atmosphere for staff
- Act as a liaison for Horizons for Homeless Children with the community
- Maintain positive methods for parent communication
- Provide opportunities for staff communication
- Develop communication with community partners
- Be responsible for the upkeep of office machinery
- Order all office, paper, and food supplies
- Be responsible for telephone coverage, mail, and deliveries
- Oversee and supervise transportation staff
- Maintain a list of substitutes
- Work in the classroom as needed to provide appropriate coverage
Qualifications:
- DEEC Lead Teacher qualified.
- Minimum one year working with families at risk required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
- Computer literacy required.
- Candidate must be committed to working with homeless families.
- Valid Drivers License and clean driving record required.
