Join a highly creative translational medicine team and lead the development and articulation of a translational science effort. This includes evaluating cur! rent cancer immunotherapy landscape and helping to build a translational science strategy for biologics drug development programs. Work to identify and develop relationships with academic institutes and hospitals to integrate clinical research into the drug development process. Also lay the foundation to support clinical development planning of pipeline drug candidates.
Responsibility Overview:
Lead development and execution of overall translational medicine efforts
Lead early clinical development planning, proof of concept study design, and biomarker strategy.
Incorporate translational objectives and endpoints into clinical development protocols (molecular, cellular and imaging biomarkers)
Collaborate with internal research to integrate translational research into discovery target identification and validation strategies
Review and evaluate development opportunities for integrating mechanistic, pharmacologic and clini! cal development perspectives
Lead internal and extern! al team members, vendors and consultants to develop an IND package, as well as review and evaluate pre-clinical safety data for submission
Job Requirements:
Candidate must possess an M.D. with research experience or an M.D. / Ph.D.
Minimum of five years relevant experience within academic medical, pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology sectors
Extensive experience in translational or clinical research related to drug development
Experience developing regulatory strategy, including experience with POC through Phase II
Broad therapeutic area/target class expertise and experience in Immunology and/or Oncology
Experience integrating molecular biomarker endpoints in a clinical setting with one or more of the below technologies:
Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence
Gene expression profiling
Flow cytometry and mass cytometry
Ability to identify and build relationships with clin! ical centers
Design hypothesis-testing and hypothesis-generating clinical experiments with an understanding of selection of molecular endpoints appropriate for the clinical population, corollary clinical end-points, and familiarity with the principles of clinical trial statistical analyses
Experience with clinical trial operations and logistics for biomarker specimens
Effective communications (verbal & written) and presentation skills
