SKILLS/ABILITIES: Mu! st have significant amount of experience across broad platform offerings in a laboratory specializing in immunoassays or NAT Infectious Disease Testing. Must have experience performing tests as well as interpreting test results. Familiarity with Western Blot Analysis is preferred. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and verbal communications skills essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Experience with all Microsoft
Office products desired. Flexibility of schedule to meet business needs and deadlines required.
Confidentiality and discretion is required.
POSITION PURPOSE
Coordinate and oversee activities of the QC Testing Lab. Responsible for the quality of all testing performed, internally and externally, the timely completion of testing, review and interpretation of testing data, as well as timely release of results to the Manufacturing Engineering team. Supervise and manage staff in keeping with expr! essed objectives and corporate culture and in doing so, provid! e a workplace where ideas are sought and considered, initiative is encouraged, success is rewarded, and employees are treated fairly, with respect and recognition. This will be a working manager position responsible for performing testing in addition to overall management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
: Review daily outstanding test requisitions from Materials, Manufacturing, Product Development and other requisitions,
Develop and execute strategy to meet quality requirements as well as business/customer needs. Meet regularly with QC Testing
Laboratory to communicate priority levels.
: Manage day-to-day responsibilities of the QC Testing Laboratory.
: Provide technical expertise and guidance to manufacturing in interpreting test results.
: Perform routine testing of in-process and finished product samples as needed due to demand.
: Responsible for the accuracy of internal and external test resul! ts. Interacts with I.T. staff to create and maintain new reports and data monitoring.
: Oversee external testing laboratories, performance and costs. Identifies suitable sourcing for testing as needed.
: Seek ways to improve productivity and efficiency within the lab while maintaining high quality standards. Work with Product
Development and Manufacturing to improve production turnaround.
: Responsible for adhering to the Company's Safety and Regulatory policies. Ensure that Quality System procedures related to
testing are being adhered to at all times.
: Ensure realistic and appropriate performance goals are set for the laboratory staff.
: Develop, revise and review Standard Operating Procedures.
: Responsible for effectively managing the Testing Laboratory budget; review of expenses; addressing cost containment; identifying equipment, reagent and staffing needs.
: Maintain suitable metrics fo! r all aspects of lab operations.
: Participate as necessary in! ISO, FDA, GMP or customer audits and provide the auditor with data as requested.
: Review and interpret customer specifications, and make recommendations as required.
: Participate in internal audit program.
: Ensure all QC Testing staff meets requirements of Proficiency Testing program.
