Overview:
A Senior Software Engineer will utilize a variety of tools as a major contributor in the Waters software application development process for our analytical software and scientific database products. This job will include all aspects of software development from functional requirements, design, and implementation to testing of application software. A Senior Software Engineer will provide technical lea! dership to more junior engineers and will be expected to work ! independently. A Senior Engineer job may include project management and/or supervisory duties in addition to technical areas of expertise.
Responsibilities:
Develops software solutions by studying needs of users to help design a better user experience; working with subject matter experts to understand analytical workflows; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
Update! s job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations and sharing new technology with colleagues.
Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
Supports quality processes in software development and throughout the corporation.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a BS or MS in computer science or related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 5 years experience is required, preferably working on scientific software applications
Experience! with .NET, C# WPF and WCF
Experienced with software development to! ols such as requirement management, source code control and software change tracking
A good understanding of database concepts and a working knowledge of Oracle databases is required.
Knowledge of Chromatography applications is a plus
