Overview and Scope
The Senior PORTIA Product Consultant will work on billable client engagements. The consultant will be responsible for implementing PORTIA and other related product applications into client environments. Phases of the implementation process with which the Senior Product Consultant will be involved include workflow analysis, requirements gathering, data mapping and conversion, custom report development, testing, procedures documentation, and training. Other project types include functional testing during product release upgrades, security master record clean up, performance measurement implementation, and general staff augmentation. O! n all projects, the Senior Product Consultant will be serve as! the product 'expert'; so the ability to quickly gain an in depth knowledge of PORTIA functionality is crucial in this role. A detailed understanding of all asset classes, particularly fixed income, complex assets and equity investment securities for both domestic and international markets is required. This includes accruals, corporate actions, income payments, maturities, yield, duration, and other analytics. The Senior Product Consultant will also be responsible for troubleshooting and facilitating the resolution of service and product issues for clients as they arise. This will include the development and testing of creative solutions to specific problems and client business needs
Main responsibilities of the job
- Maintain billability targets
- Maintain a high level of customer referencability by ensuring the successful client 'Go Live' milestones
- Manage client expectations and project scope
- Lead and project manage clien! t engagements
- Exceed Professional Services revenue goals through individual billability target of 70% and contribution to revenue generation through expanding projects, identifying sales opportunities, assisting in sales process, and marketing Professional Services
- Help to create and refine implementation methodologies, process standards, tools, and best practices in order to effectively implement solutions
- Create high quality written project documentation
- Mentor junior members of the team
Education: B.A. or B.S. required
Job Related Experience: 8+ years experience in the financial services industry, ideally with a focus in portfolio accounting, fund accounting, and/or buy-side investment management operations. Experience with investment management applications such as PORTIA, CAMRA, Sungard, SimCorp, Eagle or Advent is a plus.
Travel Requirements: Travel is required, bu! t varies by project. At times can be up to 80%.
Functional ! Area Skills/Knowledge:
- 8+ years of industry experience is required (portfolio/fund accounting, performance, buy-side investment management operations, and/or similar financial services industry experience)
- Consulting and project management skills and experience
- Ability to troubleshoot issues at detail level while maintaining 'big picture' view
- Ability to manage high pressure client situations and build trust with client
- Ability to prioritize tasks and issues across multiple simultaneous projects/assignments
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues to all audiences
- Ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
- Possess solid understanding of customers' business strategies, needs, and opportunities
- General knowledge of hardware and software technologies related to company's products
- Experience with Project Management Office (PMO)
- Excellen! t interpersonal skills and customer management skills
- Strong customer (internal and external) communication and presentation skills
- Proactive & self-motivated; possess 'find a way to get it done' attitude
- Ability to work with limited supervision in fast-paced client environments
- Outstanding time management skills and attention to detail
- Advanced degrees and professional certifications (MBA, CFA, etc.) are considered a plus
Intermediate or better proficiency with MS SQL
Experience implementing custom reporting packages using market solution (Varden, PAGES, etc.)
Experience developing custom applications relevant to asset management, portfolio accounting, or related processes
